BMR is the energy floor — what you'd burn lying in bed all day. To estimate total daily calories including activity, use the EER Calculator below.

Inputs

Enter your sex, age, weight, and height. BMR returns in calories per day.

The Mifflin-St Jeor formula

This is what's running under the hood. Same formula used by registered dietitians, the ACSM, and most evidence-based nutrition practitioners.

Male: BMR = (10 × weight kg) + (6.25 × height cm) − (5 × age) + 5
Female: BMR = (10 × weight kg) + (6.25 × height cm) − (5 × age) − 161

What BMR doesn't include: any movement. Walking, training, fidgeting, digesting food. For total daily calories, you need to multiply BMR by an activity factor — that's what the EER Calculator does.
